Consultation and problem solving approach

The first meeting with Unicef outlined the challenges associated with using legacy access control and video security systems. Furthermore, firmware upgrades would have been required needed once the software was updated. Unicef was not using most of the functions of existing software system, as they find it difficult to operate. The system database was becoming unmanageable, with no clear procedure for eliminating users whose access has been revoked, creating security vulnerabilities. In addition, the existing video cameras and digital video recorder (DVR), were low-resolution analog cameras and no longer fit for its purpose.

Creating centralized access control

After a power surge at the office damaged the access control system, the UNICEF USA IT staff were tasked with finding a replacement system. Shortly after the access control system went down, Sabre got the call. Sabre’s knowledgeable team met with the UNICEF IT and facilities teams and educated them about the numerous benefits of a Brivo system, including integration with Eagle Eye Network cameras and OKTA identity management. OKTA integration was an important function and the IT department had deployed this technology nationwide.

Finding the best solution

With this integration in place, the system became more intuitive to grant and revoke access when onboarding or off-boarding new employees – this makes the access control database more secure, improving security at the facility. UNICEF USA did not have the budget to replace the camera system. UNICEF USA implemented Sabre’s proposal to convert their Software House C-Cure 9000 access control to a SabreVault, powered by Brivo, system. The professional installation was quick, taking just one week to complete.
